Next Saturday I’ll be reading alongside some fantastic poets as part of Poetry in Palmers Green.
Poetry in Palmers Green has become something of an institution since it was set up in 2006 after Palmers Green Bookshop closed. Poets Katherine Gallagher and Myra Schneider were determined to keep going something of the warmth and generosity of the readings Joanna Cameron held in the bookshops and the Poetry in Palmers Green readings, now held at St John’s Church, attract poets and audiences from all over. Myra has written a very lovely blog about the history of the readings if you’d like to know more.
Anyhoo, on Saturday, I’ll be reading with Mimi Khalvati, Martyn Crucefix and Fred Beake as well as with a glorious host of poets introduced by editor and poet Dilys Wood for the new anthology of women’s poetry, Her Wings of Glass.
There will be also music from The Helios Consort, refreshments, books to buy and Open Mic slots (which you’ll need to book in early for). It would be really lovely to see you there!
